The Grandview Thundering Herd Band believes in providing every student with the opportunity to learn and engage with music by creating a fun environment that encourages students to strive for excellence. From grades 6 to 12, students are offered the opportunity to participate in concert band, colorguard, jazz band, marching band, chamber ensembles, and play solos at concerts and competitions.
The Thundering Herd band is the largest student organization in the district, composed of around 200 students at both the Junior High and High School. We can be seen in the community playing at football games, giving concerts, marching in parades, and supporting other activities within and around Grandview.
The Thundering Herd Band believes in striving for excellence both as a group and on a personal level. We hope for every student to leave high school with an appreciation for music and an understanding of how to achieve within all aspects of their life. We strive to create leaders within the community and to teach life skills such as dedication and collaboration while teaching students to take pride in their work. We hope for every student to find success in all of their activities and academics.
The Grandview Band is a state-advancing marching band, a consistent finalist within the UIL Area Marching Band Contest, receives superior ratings on stage at the UIL concert and Sightreading competition, and sends numerous students every year to the TMEA All-State, Area, and All-Region bands.
